The ACF advocacy project concluded on April 30th. On April 24th, some members of the association met via ZOOM for an advocacy and development seminar. During the seminar, the advocacy plan developed during the project was reviewed. Several amendment proposals emerged during the discussion. Additionally, an impact assessment plan was completed, and a member satisfaction survey was conducted as part of the project. While the project has ended, advocacy work continues.
What are our common messages about environmental education in Estonia? What could the cooperation between environmental education centers and local governments look like? What kind of sustainable funding system would help centers further develop their programs?
We will meet at the summer academy and the environmental education conference in the fall to discuss these topics. We are currently preparing a survey for local governments to determine how they contribute to increasing citizens' environmental awareness and what expectations and recommendations they have for cooperation with environmental education providers.
In the fall, a working group will begin developing a targeted funding system for environmental education programs. We will continue to represent the interests of the association and the network in various working groups and invite members to join the working group and actively contribute.

The project helps to analyze, plan and bring the interest protection activities of the association to a new level. The members of the board of the association and the interest protection working group of the association will acquire skills and develop their competences in training and with the help of a mentor to stand up for environmental education and to strengthen cooperation. In order to manage changes and communicate these better, we develop an interest protection plan and a communication plan, in addition, we prepare an impact assessment methodology for the association.
During the project, cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment and with the Ministry of Education and Research is developed. In addition, the role of municipalities in promoting environmental awareness within the population is emphasized, and a cooperation model is created for the cooperation between providers of environmental education services and local municipalities. The model will on the one hand emphasize their roles in the field of civic education and on the other hand contributes to the targeted financing of the environmental education centers.
